Hi - I’m Susannah, but most people know me as Susie.
I’m a Bedfordshire-based yoga teacher (Leighton Buzzard to be exact) and I’m passionate about helping people transform their health and wellbeing through yoga.
When I first discovered yoga I had no idea how disconnected I was from myself. On the outside I was thriving – I was living in London, had a great career, meaningful relationships and a vibrant social life.
On the inside, however, things often felt out of control. I didn’t take care of myself and often neglected my physical and emotional needs…
A little bit about me…
Discovering yoga
I was always curious about yoga, but didn’t go to a class until a hot Bikram studio opened just round the corner from me. I dragged my husband along with me, neither of us having any idea what to expect. Let’s just say we were hooked from day one!
I’ll never forget that first yoga class, and how everything just seemed to click. Here was a practice that not only supported my physical goals and made me feel great, but it provided me with the tools to take care of my mental and emotional wellbeing too. For the first time I learnt how to breathe – in a way that dramatically transformed how I felt, and created a bridge for me to explore my inner world…
Survive to thrive
Over time, I began to notice just how differently I felt in myself. There was a new freedom in my physical body, and I felt strong, fit and flexible.
I found it much easier to cope with challenges in my life, looking at things in a different way or simply taking a deep breath instead of drowning in overwhelm or reactivity.
I began to recognise that living life in autopilot wasn’t what I wanted, and that I needed to make some changes if I wanted to be truly fulfilled.
Cue big, dramatic life moment - I quit my job, booked a flight to Thailand and embarked on my first yoga teacher training in early 2015…
Living my yoga
I’ve now been teaching for ten years and haven’t looked back. Yoga is about so much more than a job, it is woven through every part of my life.
I’m now a mother to two beautiful children, and yoga has given me the tools to navigate my beautifully messy journey through motherhood. The teachings of yoga help to keep me grounded, rooted and connected in a life that can oftentimes feel busy, chaotic and overwhelming.
In case you were wondering, I don’t live a perfectly zen yoga-teacher existence! I live in the real world of raising two children and juggling work as both a yoga teacher and copywriter. And that’s exactly why yoga has been such an anchor for me. It’s become my greatest companion to navigate life, giving me the physical, mental and emotional tools to take care of myself…
Practice with me
My sessions are down-to-earth, accessible and inspire growth. My approach is modern and backed by science, and I apply the ancient teachings of yoga in a way that makes sense to our modern lives.
My intention is provide yoga classes that promote growth, whatever that may look like for you.
I’ve taken 400+hrs of trainings, studied with some amazing teachers, and am forever a student of yoga.
Some of the incredible teachers I’ve trained with include Amy Ippoliti, Nadia Narain, Deborah Berryman, Sarah Lo, Dawn Wright, Absolute Yoga and Kathy Ran…
Why choose me?
In all the time I’ve been practicing and teaching yoga I can confidently say that my love for the practice has never dimmed.
I’m fun, passionate, down-to-earth and real. I don’t have any expectations on who comes to my classes – how flexible you are, what you wear or how experienced you are in yoga. All I care is that you come exactly as you are.
I can’t wait to meet you in class!
